MSF - OCB's Global Environmental Footprint Initiative
Building MSF OCB environmental roadmap
This initial assessment allows to document OCB practices, and initiatives, both at the headquarters and field levels, that have a positive or negative impact on the environment. It is the synthesis of the work made by thematic working groups as well as interviews. It aims at inspiring ideas for anyone who would like to contribute to proposals of the roadmap.
The documents, completed by a picture of the footprint hypothesis allow to understand the level of commitment of the organization, understand its strategic development for the next 10 years, identify the obstacles and challenges ahead of potential solutions in order to be able to provide appropriate responses.
What does the carbon footprint of an OC look like?
97% of carbon emissions come from 6 main sources:
- Consumed energy (generators and grid)
- Purchased goods
- Purchased services
- Air travel
- Freight
- Waste
The picture bellow shows the calculated carbon emission from OCG. Though the total CO2e amount will be different for OCB, the proportions between sources of emissions should be similar.
