MSF OCB : Diminuer notre empreinte environnementale
Construire la feuille de route environnementale de MSF OCB
Reduce use of nonstandard electricized goods as much as possible and buy more sustainable/durable e-items to generate less e-waste
* The Idea is to reduce bad quality/ non-standard electronic items.
* We can plan to buy long durable e-items which has more sustainable lifetime.

Excellent proposal Karim - can you please give some examples of the e-items you are thinking of?
i will say we have alot of electronic items on the field that use batteries and it is a huge waste for these batteries to be transported for incineration
patient files ( several documentation needed for one patient over the entire period of admission means alot of papers which depending on the project policy to destroy our data archives room tons of papers kept for 5years and we often need a big room for that
why not digitalize for sone procedures like admissions , and diagnostic like lab and ex-ray where results and saved and doctors and nurses can view through monitors , rather than print hard copies , printing can be limited to key procedures
yes, Dorothy you are right that we use batteries a lot in the field. But from last over two years we are using rechargeable batteries instead of one time batteries. I hope within this way everyone can easily mitigate huge waste of batteries.
For second suggestion, It will be wonderful if we can have this option in all mission. But I found many missions already accepted digital data management method but not all. Yes of course we can emphasize on this as well to reduce paper uses to save tree.

I am not taking about specific items but it could be very regular used items like:-
There maybe more this kind examples we can find from our working environment.
Very clear thanks :)

To add to the suggestion: Do you think that repairable electronical equipment could be envisaged? (At least for some areas).
Thanks!
Sonja from the CAA
Hey, Sonja thank you for your valuable inputs. Yeh, definitely we should plan for standard spare parts at least for a certain period to support uncertain situation. It's true that not possible to find good quality/ standard spare parts in all area as you mentioned it as well.
