IT equipment plays an important role in the success of operations. Obsolete or defective hardware will bring with it compatibility and security problems, frequent breakdowns, and difficulties in restocking consumables and components. All of which can stress out the staff.
However, with good maintenance and if the equipment is used with care, it is possible to extend its lifespan. MSF policy today is to replace computers after 3 years but it could be extended to 4-5 years as long as there are no security and compatibility issues.
