Recycling of plastic hospital wastes via biochemical process
To study the possibility of adapting the process used already since 2021 by a french company for recycling plastics with a biochemical process. It is a soft biochemical process that does not require high temperature, combustion, or any classical "dirty" chemistry process. They already produce some reactors for the industry and these could be adapted for use in MSF waste areas for the big MSF hospitals.

Do you have experience with this process in particular?
Other processes might be of interest: plastic conversion to liquid fioul, pyrolisis, etc.
Safety needs to be considered as well (inherent to the process + contamination of plastic) and adaptation to complicated contexts

I have a master in biochemistry but I don't have experience on this specific application, but I think it would be worth contacting the company and discuss with them if they could adapt there process to our needs. They are also trying to make the process known and they would be happy to have a partner like MSF on R&D to show to there customers.
The scientific basis of there process described in the publication in the famous scientific journal "nature" (see link https://www.nature.com/articles/s41586-020-2149-4) is serious.
the problem with pyrolysis is that it requires quite heavy energy input while the enzymnatic approcah is more "bio".
If we discuss with them we can see if their technology is clean enough for our vision and if it is adaptable to our contexts (cost, maintenance, byproducts, etc.)
