Building MSF OCP environmental roadmap
About this process
Building MSF OCP environmental roadmap
Dear all,
Climate change is a matter of concern for our association, because the most vulnerable populations and the poorest countries pay the highest price while being the least equipped to respond.
That is why, if the fight against climate change is not necessarily our fight, we must nevertheless limit our contribution to this phenomenon.
To this end, MSF-OCP made a commitment at the Group Committee meeting, on June 15, to reduce its carbon footprint by half by 2030, compared to its 2019 level.
The first step was to partially estimate the carbon footprint of the missions.
We then signed a partnership agreement with "The Climate Action Accelerator", an NGO that helps organizations identify and implement science-based solutions to reduce their environmental footprint.
Our colleagues at MSF-OCG, who have made the same commitment, have also signed this partnership.
A third important step has just been taken, with the recruitment of a person dedicated to environmental issues at OCP, Alexandre Chaudonneret.
A series of consultations with our technical referents is underway, in order to make an inventory of good practices and environmental responsibility projects that are already in place or planned.
The time has come to broaden this discussion to all OCP staff and MSF France associates, via a platform that we will soon make available.
All ideas will be welcome and we hope that there will be many contributions, including from the teams in our various fields of intervention.
By 2022, we hope to have finalized an environmental roadmap that will set the concrete measures enabling us to achieve our goal of reducing our carbon footprint by half.
We hope that everyone will participate in the construction of this roadmap and then in the implementation of the measures that it will detail.
Thank you in advance for your participation,
Dr Meguerditch Terzian
Président, MSF France
